Where the money's moving — 4 up, 16 cooling
Twenty resale categories on our radar this week — and only four climbed. So this issue runs both directions: what's heating up, and what's cooled into a buying window. Five picks, all current sold-comp prices tracked week over week. The rule never changes: the qualifier matters more than the category — that's where the margin lives.
1. Vintage Milk Glass ~$32 ▲ +26%
Milk glass is the week's biggest climber — up 26% to a median around $31.50, from $25 last week. Common hens-on-nest and footed planters move the volume, but the money sits in early Atterbury and signed Fenton, which clear $300+. Always flip the piece and check the base for a maker's mark — that's the line between a $15 dish and a $300 one.
2. Nintendo NES ~$75 ▲ +14%
NES systems are up 14% to around $75. The flip is condition: complete-in-box launch units with the styrofoam and inserts run $300+. Buy any working console under $30 — the box and foam are what turn a $75 deck into a $300 sale.
3. Antique Fairy Lamps ~$95 ▲ +7%
One of only four categories that rose this week — up 7% to around $95. Webb signed Burmese examples clear $1,500+, and the signature is on the base cup, not the shade. Grab any matched cup-and-shade set; walk past a shade with no base.
4. Vintage Band & Tour T-Shirts ~$46 ▼ -8%
Vintage tees have softened 8% to around $46 — which makes this a better week to buy than to sell. Deadstock pre-1990 band and tour tees clear $1,500+. Check the tag for single-stitch and era-correct dates; a reprint kills the value on the spot.
5. Pokémon Cards ~$11 ▼ -10%
Common singles down 10% to around $11. The ceiling is absurd — Shadowless 1st-Edition Charizard PSA 9 runs $30,000+ — but the everyday money is in 1999 Base Set holos. Check for the Shadowless print.
